It’s well known that no one knows Disney like annual passholders do. They can tell you the ins and outs of the parks, resorts, dining and park rules better than some cast members can. After all, they visit Disney more in one year the most people do in a life time.
We decided to ask our Facebook group of 127,000 members what they thought about the most broken rules at Disney and here is what they came up with.
9. Spreading loved ones ashes on a ride
From what we hear this is a thing and is mostly done on the Haunted Mansion.
And like Kate mentioned: “What people fail to resize is that they clean and vacuum the rides every night so if you’re lucky enough to not get caught, your loved one is just gonna end up in the trash.”
8. Sneaking into the fast pass line
In my humble opinion, this one should have gotten more votes but I’m sure no one wants to admit to it!
7. Relations on mission space
We asked Alex to please elaborate because we were extremely curious, but he never responded. We’re sure he was joking but we have heard whispers that people do inappropriate things on attractions. It may not be clearly spelled out in the rules but it is considered indecent exposure and a misdemeanor crime.
6. People sucked into their phones oblivious to the fact they are at Disney
Ok being sucked into your phone is not a rule on Disney property but a member added this poll option and several people voted for it. What is in the rules is “Obstructing sidewalks, entrances, driveways, patios, vestibules, stairways, corridors, halls or landings.” Which some people staring at their phones to much tend to do.
5. Smuggle alcohol
Another one that probably should have been more voted for because it is a subject most talked about in the groups and it gets a lot of members really riled up. When I commented on the post curious as to why this one isn’t winning, Jacqueline responded with this: “I think that people vocally whine about that online but at the end of the day flash photography and line cutters actually impact most trips more than things people get so in arms about”
4. Selfie sticks
You are not aloud to bring in selfie sticks. You can however bring your tripod.
According to Disney Property Rules:
Selfie sticks, hand-held extension poles for cameras or mobile devices are prohibited.
Tripods or monopod stands that cannot fit inside a standard backpack or that extends over 6 feet are not allowed in theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs or ESPN Wide World of Sports.
3. Smoking or vaping in the parks
May 1, 2019 the rules changed and guests are no longer aloud to smoke inside of Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex or Downtown Disney in California. There are designated smoking areas outside of the entrances of the theme parks and other areas affected. There are designated smoking areas outside of Disney Springs in Florida and smoking areas available for guests who have room or dining reservations at Disney Resort hotels.
2. Line Cutting
Cutting the queue for a ride using the “my family is up front” excuse or boarding through rear door of the bus is something we all cant stand. Not only is cutting lines rude and against society’s unspoken rules, it’s considered disruptive to other guests and that behavior is against Disney policy.
Finally, the most voted for broken rule you see happen at Disney from the members of one of the most popular annual passholder groups on Facebook is:
1. Flash photography
There is a sign posted on just about every attraction and if that’s not enough, before the ride or show begins, the cast member reminds you to please refrain from the use of flash photography but people still do it!
Here are some comments from the poll:
Cait: “100% flash photography is the most annoying of them all though.”
Amy: “Flash photography in Haunted Mansion drives me absolutely NUTS!”
Jill: “Flash photography for sure”
Krissy: “On pirates yesterday and she wouldn’t take the flash off!!”
